Chiropractor for Dogs on South Shore Boston, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Boston

A common question is does my dog need a chiropractor and or how to know if they need one?

First of all, most Vets are not trained to know when a dog needs to see a chiropractor and I know this since I teach Vets at Options for Animals Chiropractic College.
Dogs that are performance dogs such as Agility and Dock Diving as well as Herding need to see a chiropractor on a maint. basis since these activities demand abnormal series of movements that are done repetitively.
If you dog is older and has arthritis, chiropractic will help keep them moving better and prevent some potential issues that may occur such as disk problems.
If your dog is lame and or has difficulty with any types of motion and the Vet has cleared them of a disease process then an animal chiropractor is essential.

Hunters Bump- Chiropractor for horse Massachusetts and New Hampshire

The Hunters Bump could be an anatomical abnormality, It could be noticed more if there is a wt lose or muscle loss. It could also be a subluxaion of the Sacroiliac making this bone called the Tuber Sacrale more prominent.

Headaches - chiropractor weymouth mass

Many headaches start at the back of the head and run over the head to just above the eyes. This headache is called a suboccipital headache. The greater occipital nerve is the cause and is "pinched at the top vertebrae in the neck.
Chiropractic adjustments to C1 will magically correct the problem and so often immed remove the headache.

Please call Dr Bruce at 781-337-1180 or email at Indekchiropractic@gmail.com to schedule an appt.

Dogs with difficulty walking - dog chiropractor cape cod, south of boston boston nantucket

As your dog ages they will have difficulty keeping their balance especially on hard wood floors. Often times the hips could be the issue but many times it can be the low back, hocks and or pelvis.
Typically Meds are given for possible pain but the larger issue is faulty biomechanics ( movements within the joints).

Most Vets are not trained in biomechanics of the spine and pelvis, as i have seen when i teach at the animal chiropractic college. Having a certified (AVCA) chiropractor eval ur dog is essential.

Many times chiropractic adjustments, cold laser, proprioceptive exer., and using yoga mats around the house will greatly help. It is also important to keep the claws trimed since this will also alter balance.

Please call Dr Bruce w questions or to schedule a visit at 781-337-1180 or email at Indekchiropractic@gmail.com

back pain in dogs with lameness - chiropractor for dogs south shore boston, boston, cape cod, nantucket

Back pain is often over diagnosed as disc problems in dogs. To know if the disc is really involved an MRI is needed not an xray. That being said, the majority of back issues with dogs is not disc injury but rather subluxation ( locked up spinal bones that are not moving well and irritating nerves and muscles). Typically Meds are given and rest rec.
Many times chiropractic has quickly fixed these subluxations and thus avoiding long use of meds and rest. Cold laser used in conjunction will speed the healing process. I often add exercises to the regime to prevent further problems.

Shoulder problems in dogs as well as Cruciate (aka ACL or CCL) LIgaments - Chiropractor for Dogs south shore mass, boston, nantucket

Dogs carry 60 percent of their body weight on the front legs in a normal situation. If they injure the cruciate ligament then even more weight is transferred to the front legs thus causing a shoulder issue. Many times your vet may not recommend surgery for the cruciate ligament tear. Sometimes surgery is the only option. Either way, the shoulder will be affected as well as the neck. Animal Chiropractic is essential to avoid further complications in the neck and shoulder. Treatment is very gentle as seen in my video on my website home page indekchiropractic.com.

I will also recommend exercises to aid in the healing process. The visit frequency is much less for animals than people since they react so quickly. I only make house calls so you do not need to get your dog to me, I will come to you.

low back disc problems that can cause sciatica Chiropractor Weymouth MA Dr Indek

Not all disc problems cause sciatica and sometimes there is no back pain but only sciatica. Sciatica is misunderstood by most. True sciatica is an electrical shooting and or numbing pain, just having leg pain that is ache like that runs down the leg is not sciatica. The sciatic nerve come from 5 nerves in the low back and come together in the butt to form the sciatic nerve which is large as your thumb and runs down the leg to the toes. Most common cause of low back pain and or sciatica is subluxation (spinal bones that get 'stuck' in movement and can irritate nerves).

Disc problems often do not need an operation and can be fixed with chiropractic and exercises that are specific. Often just resting and taking meds will not fix the problem but rather increase the eventual need for surgery. The disc can be irritated by subluxation and thus give you all the symptoms.

Please call Dr Indek to discuss your case, he has been in practice for 32 years and has a vast degree of experience with low back cases. Most major insurance accepted including medicare.
