If the pain is sharp use ice so how do u know?
New injury,swelling or sensitive to touch- wet fur and use ice pack wrapped in towel it should feel cool on your skin not cold. Use 15 min ev 2 to 3 hrs.
Heat if stiff or chronic condition. Wet fur and use beany bag, or hot water bottle wrapped in towel and should be warm on your skin, same schedule on time.
