The most common ligament in the knee that tears is the cranial cruciate ligament. When this occurs ur dog may carry the affected leg off the ground or walk on his toe. Not all ligament tears require surgery. Sometimes PRP may work best which is a procedure that uses ur dog's blood and platlets that are concentrated and injected back into the knee to regrow the ligament. It is imperative that ur dog have chiropractic care to preserve the other knee and front end integrity since compensation can injure other areas of ur dog.
There are specific rehab exercises and cold laser to speed healing.
