Recently I was told of a story about a
patient's medical doctorwho stated " don't have the chiropractor adjust
your neck". Some of you may wonder why he said this.
I have heard
this from many medical doctors over the years. Medical doctors have next
to no training in chiropractic and spinal bio-mechanics. The fear is
that the chiropractor will cause injury to arteries and nerves. We will
not cause injury since we are highly
trained professionals in this field. In fact the malpractice insurance
companies only charge on average about $1000 per year in premiums for 3
Million dollars of coverage.
Every day for over 115 years
chiropractors have been adjusting the neck and the incidence is less
likely than getting injured by lightning just look at the small premium
we pay for 3 million worth of coverage. The underwriters know how remote
this is.
So why do the medical doctors say this? Well with
little to no education on chiropractic they base their statements on
story's that someone told them that may not even be true. Most MD's have
never seen a neck adjustment, never received one and have never
attended any seminars or read any chiropractic textbooks, so all of this
misinformation is just passed along. This erroneous information makes
it hard on the chiropractic profession so please pass this along.
