Often dogs can injure their neck when jumping down from a height such as a car or bed. The force exerted downward into the neck and upper back can cause spinal joints to jam and muscles to tighten up. Your dog may not eat well due to pain lifting the neck and may have some lameness. Your vet will prescribe pain killers but if in fact there are "jammed" spinal joints called subluxations then your dog needs an animal chiropractor.
