German shepards are predisposed to low back issues such as pinched nerves and disc problems. More of the American bred ones are redisposed due to conformation bred . The common conformation of slopped back puts mechanical stress on the hocks and lumbar spine. Low back and pelvic problems can lead to lameness, bunny hopping, urinary and intestinal problems since these are the nerves that affect the legs and organ function.
Chiropractic adjustments have dramatically helped these dogs once your vet has cleared them of any disease.

Chiropractor for dogs south shore of Boston- back pain dogs - chiropractor
Back pain is a symptom not a problem. Everyone is focused on fixing back pain when the real care should be focused on the cause of the pain. Think of it this way, if the pain and symptom disappears the cause may not. The medical model of care is to treat the symptom w pain killers and anti-inflam meds, and that is all. This is like spraying water on the smoke alarm and not the fire.
The spine and it"s mechanics are complex and I can tell you as I teach vets about
chiropractic they know very little about it"s function.there is just no time in vet school to learn this.
Seeking out a board cert animal chiropractor is your best step.
I rec exercise therapy that u can do at home as well
How often your dog should be adjusted dep on the issue. The next question is once ur dog is doing better how will it stay that way. The answer is w wellness chiro visits and exercise. Typically once per month for wellness seems to work best. Each time I eval ur dog and make adjustments where needed to keep them "tuned up"

Head tossing on your horse horse chiropractor north shore boston
Horses are rear driven, the center of gravity in your horse is behind the shoulder. In order for a horse to move forward he must be able to flex the pelvis and bring his hind legs under him thus moving the center of gravity rearward. If your horse has subluxations in the pelvis or lumbar ( low back) then there will be restrictions to flexion in the hind end.
To accomplish the transfer of weight ( center of gravity ) to the hind end your horse will have to toss the head up and back to move the center of gravity instead of flexing the pelvis. Having an equine chiropractor evaluate your horse and adjust these subluxations will help eliminat head tossing.
Exercises specific to your horse will also help.
Contact Dr Bruce Indek at indekchiropractic@gmail.com or 781-337-1180 with any questions.

Back Pain in Dogs - Dog Chiropractor South Shore of Boston/ weymouth ma
Pain can be caused by many factors. The nerves that sense pain enter the spinal cord and synapse [communicate] with 5 levels above and 5 levels below at the level of the spinal cord. This means that pain can be transmitted to many different areas of the body even though they are not the source of the pain. A Chiropractor is the only Doctor trained in functional neuroanatomy and if the cause of the pain needs to be treated then contact a certified animal chiropractor [american vet chiropractic assoc - AVCA]. Once your vet has determined the cause is not due to a disease process contact the animal chiropractor.

Urinary and bladder problems in dogs -dog chiropractor south of Boston
Many dogs suffer from urinary issues. I always advise the owner to have a vet check up first to rule out disease. If no disease exists then commonly there is an issue with the lumbar and sacral nerves. Having a spinal bone irritate these nerves may cause the bladder to mal function. Chiropractic adjustments along w diet and sometimes acupuncture has helped.
Often your vet will give you a med that will stimulate the sympathetic nerves which in turn tighten the bladder muscles but it makes more sense to improve the power supply to these nerves naturally, with chiropractic adjustments. Most meds do not work forever and do not fix the cause of the problem.
