This is the "Trap" muscle in a dog. It originates in the neck and entire upper to mid back. It's job is to lift and elevate the front leg as well as draw it forward. Its powered by the spinal accessory nerve from the upper neck. If your dog has issues with jumping this muscle may be involved as well as its power supply.
